Welcome to Snapshots & Souvenirs, a blog we developed to share the experiences of our travels and expat lifestyle. We're glad you stumbled upon us! Take a look and follow along on our journey - one that hopefully inspires others to stamp their passports, stroll down cobblestone streets, indulge in international cuisine and capture moments (and souvenirs!) in all kinds of cozy corners around the globe.

We're Alex and Jon, an American couple with Nikons around our necks and the desire to see the world together. After three years of long distance love (and we're talkin' half a world away, 8 hour time difference kind of love), we decided a leap of faith was necessary. I, Alex, packed up two gigantic suitcases that exceeded my total body weight and took off to live in the UAE where Jon was employed at a newspaper in the capital city of Abu Dhabi. 

After closing that very wide gap and settling into our new home on the lovely Reem Island in Abu Dhabi, we traveled to twelve different countries in one year, we planned our stateside wedding and made wonderful friends that will last a lifetime.

We recently moved back from the UAE to Atlanta, GA looking forward to the next chapter, continuing to fulfill the thrill of wanderlust but also put down some roots. We will keep this updated, reflecting on past travels and some new adventures as they come!

So there's your introduction! We look forward to spreading a little knowledge and a lot of laughter with you as we continue to step outside our comfort zones with off the beaten path places and throwing in the obvious destinations we want to explore as well - all recommendations are welcome!
